General
Counseling and Mental Health Programs:
Our general
mental health counseling helps people cope with a wide range of issues,
including: parent-child tensions, marriage, couple, and familial difficulties,
physical, mental and emotional abuse, family violence, anger management, stress,
depression, work related concerns, loss and grief, and child and adolescent
issues.
Addictions Programs:
Family Counseling Service offers both group and individual counseling
services for adults and adolescents with substance abuse issues and
substance abuse combined with co-occurring disorders. The CORE program
is a dual diagnosis, intensive outpatient treatment program. It is designed to serve adults who are
dually diagnosed with a mental disorder in combination with a substance
related disorder. The two primary components are group therapy and
education related to the simultaneous process of substance abuse
recovery and mental disorder management. There is an Intensive Outpatient
group (IOP) and an Aftercare/Outpatient group (OP). IOP meets 10 hours
per week Monday-Thursday for 12 weeks. The OP group meets weekly
for two hours and it is recommended members participate for six months.
Domestic Violence
Classes
fulfills the obligation for
the Court and teaches methods of anger management.
Budget and Debt Counseling
is a free service provided by CCCS accredited counselors.
Employee Assistance Programs:
Family Counseling Service provides problem assessment, referrals, and
counseling to help individuals and their families cope with personal
problems. The EAP program is an additional benefit provided to

Sexual Abuse Programs:
Family Counseling Service offers treatments for children, families, and
adults recovering from sexual abuse. We offer group and individual
counseling and hold a free camp, "Summer of Healing", located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The camp is specifically designed for
children and teens who have been victims of sexual abuse. Each individual is
evaluated as to their needs,
Summer of Healing Camp
Each summer children and
teen groups as well as children outside Northern Nevada have the opportunity to
attend a free, one-week camp in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This is a time for
group activities and processing of the success they have made throughout the
year in their own groups and individual work. The camp is divided between
intensive treatment and afternoons devoted to regular camp activities. With the
assistance of funding from a variety of sources, Family Counseling Service is
able to provide this camp free of charge to children and teens in Nevada. To

Sandbox Group:
For children six and under, this group focuses on assisting children in dealing
with the abuse through the language of play. Contact our agency for dates
and times.
Children's Group:
For children six to 12, this group focuses on children understanding the nature
of sexual abuse and provide support from their peers and trained
therapists.
Teen Group:
For teens 13 to 17, this group focuses on understanding the dynamics of the
abuses and assists with helping the teen to address these issues. Adolescence is
a difficult time and with the added pressure of being molested, it can be
overwhelming. The group offers support from trained therapists and their peer
group.
Non-Offending Group:
This is designed for parents and grandparents whose children have
been sexually abused.
Adults Molested As Children:
Designed for an adult who has been sexually abused as a child.
Aly's Prom Closet:
This program offers the gowns, tuxedos and
accessories to students experiencing financial hardship so they can attend their
prom with dignity and confidence they deserve.
